All students at Broadgreen High, Childwall Sports College and King David High School are expected to take part in 'enrichment' activities. All three schools have a Thursday afternoon designated as 'enrichment' time. However, 'enrichment' activities can be enjoyed at weekends, during holiday periods, after school or even during a school day when students are not being taught formal lessons. Enrichment opportunities can take place either within the school environment and / or outside in the community.
'Enrichment' is regarded as an essential part of a student's personal development and undertaking 'enrichment' activities during the Sixth Form will help nuture personal development and provide new and rewarding experiences.
The three schools will provide a menu of activities which will be available on a Thursday afternoon beginning at the end of September.
As well as the Thursday afternoon activities it is anticipated that many students will become involved in voluntary placements. These can be on an enrichment afternoon or at another time that is convenient for the students. Examples of opportunities for volunteering are included in the enrichment booklet. Completing enrichment activities will provide students with new experiences that can develop personal skills to strengthen university or employment applications.
It may be that some students are already involved in enrichment activities and have committed a lot of time to them. Such activities will be encouraged and recognised.
Mr J P Donnelly is Enrichment Co-ordinator for the three schools, he is available one day in each school -
