Childwall Sports College held its very first Health Evening on Tuesday 30th March 2010. The purpose of the evening was to acknowledge and celebrate our youngsters’ achievements in relation to promoting Health across the school whilst also unveiling the plans on the forthcoming multi million pound Liverpool PCT Health Centre that is soon to be built right next door to us. Our guest speaker was Mike Bennett, former Rugby Leagues St Helens/England player who delivered an inspirational speech to the pupils on the maintenance of a healthy lifestyle and how one can be successful in life.
Stephen Tiffany, the Senior School Improvement Officer for Children’s Health and Wellbeing also attended and was most impressed with the ceremony, saying that this kind of event and what happens in terms of Health initiatives in schools was ‘not the norm’. He described our school as ‘outstanding’. Trophies, medals and certificates were awarded to pupils who took part in the Duke of Edinburg Award scheme, the 10K Tunnel Run 2009, Liverpool Half Marathon 2010, Liverpool City Leaders Challenge winners and 40x Health Ambassadors and Sports reps. It was a wonderful occasion and we look forward to Hosting a similar event in the near future.
