Year 8 Humanities Reward Celebration

The pupils in Year 8 have been involved in a cross curricular project on Spain in their humanities subjects. This was to further develop their knowledge of Spain by exploring Spanish culture, History and Religious events.

Geography the pupils studied Spain’s location, the physical and human features in Spain, climate in Spain, Spain as a popular tourist destination and finally they looked at Spanish culture. Some pupils also took part in a Spanish dance workshop with Miss Connolly and performed during the evening. The following pupils were rewarded for their outstanding contribution in Geography: Susan Segar, Dean Freeman, Dwayne Haid, Emma Marsden, Anthony Abernethy and Shaun Stockley.

In History the pupils focused on the destruction that was caused in the Spanish town of Guernica during the Spanish Civil war by analyzing Pablo Picasso’s Guernica painting and reading newspaper report for the time. The following pupils were rewarded for their outstanding contribution in History: Sharon Watson, Kane Vasco-Snow, Alisha Taylor, Olivia Mc Kay, Jonathon Miller and Sam Spinging Pearson.
In Re the pupils studied the festival of St John which is the festival of fire. Pupils impressed the guests with their Spanish speaking skills. The following pupils were rewarded for their outstanding contribution in Re: Chloe Byrne, Lois Matthews, Michael Marteau, Rebeeca Durband, Darcie Chazen and Khalil Jenkinson.

Gifted and Talented Year 8 pupils

The following Year 8 pupils have all the potential to develop a level significantly higher than the rest of the Year group. They have produced outstanding pieces of work and have made a valuable contribution the Humanities faculty and to Childwall Sports College and where rewarded with the most prestigious award of ‘Gifted and talented in Humanities’.

Mina Oldfield, Phoebe Riley , Beyza Asik, Jennifer Anderson, Morgan Sefton, Molly Roberts, Sam Spinging Pearson, Sean Hughes, Emily Laing, Jessica Yu and Antonee Robinson.

Congratulations to all the pupils that received rewards on the night and took part in the project. On behalf of the humanities faculty I would like to thank everyone that contributed to the success of the Year 8 humanities reward ceremony.
