French Trip

Childwall School has undertaken trips to France for the last 15+ years. It began as a day trip to a French bakery and a visit to a Hypermarket. The pupils and staff enjoyed it so much that it was decided to extend the trip to 4 days (3 nights) and stay in a French hotel.

The trips originally consisted of a) a boat trip on the River Seine, b) sight seeing tour of Paris, c) visit to the Palace of Versailles Over the years the trips have also included the following :- i) Trip to Bruges to visit chocolate and lace shops ii) visit to the Science museum in Paris iii) Day in Disneyland Paris iv) Day in Parc Asterix v) Evening in Disney Village.

During their stay in France the pupils are encouraged to ask for anything or ask directions in French. They are encouraged to try different foods that they may not have tried at home eg croque monsieur, pain au chocolat, crepes.

Over the last few years the trip has taken the same format.

Day 1 - settle in the hotel, Day 2 -Disneyland Paris all day, Day 3 - Parc Asterix all day and evening tour of Paris, Day 4 - Visit to Hypermarket and back to school.

There are usually 60 pupils and 7 members of staff. The trip is always over-subscribed and I have to produce a reserve list. Pupils are already putting their names down for the trip in Summer 2007!
