Recently a large group of students from all Year Groups from Year 7 up to Year 13 who are studying English Literature up to 'A' Level went to see a number of Shakespeare productions at Stratford. Amongst the productions that were staged and seen by students at Childwall Sports College were ‘The Tempest’ and ‘Measure for Measure’.
The arrangements for the visit to Stratford were made by Miss Brown of the English Department with a large number of Teachers and Support Staff accompanying the students on what was an excellent day. Childwall Sports College was delighted that not only were there students in Years 10, 11, 12, 13 studying English Literature at GCSE and 'A' Level on the trip but the trip was oversubscribed with students from Years 7, 8 and 9, that is the younger students at school.
This was a wonderful opportunity for students to see the performances at Stratford not least due to the leading role played by Patrick Stewart in ‘The Tempest’. “I am delighted that so many of our students from all age groups were able to have the opportunity to visit Stratford and see high calibre performances of Shakespearean productions such as ‘The Tempest’. Well done to all concerned. D.W. Phillips, Headteacher.
