Day 1
Day one began with everyone meeting at John Lennon airport. Lewis Taylor and Ben Calvert were the last two pupils to arrive. Ben returned with a new pink stripy bag this year and was then suitably embarrassed by his dad as he blew kisses and sang songs across the departure lounge. Sam S-Pearson at the check in desk was asked which destination he was flying to and he replied Torgon!! Highlight of the journey was Luke Abrams use of sick and boss (for everthing!!)
Day 2
First day of skiing and the weather was excellent. Sun was out, the conditions were perfect and all groups met their instructors (unfortunately Raddy didn’t get Lizzy again)! Record for the most number of falls today was Sean Hughes with 18 (keep it up Sean). Joe Byrne was divvy of the day for today, he got if for his new version of the onesey!
Divvy of the day nominations where Carl Scott for taking Mr. Breen out on the slope, Chris Roach for going off piste and getting stuck and having to walk out, Sean Morris for failing miserably attempting a jump and doing “roly polys” down the mountain.
The evening activity today was snow shoeing.....great fun was had by all participants!
It was a very good first day skiing with conditions much better than last year, everyone is eagerly anticipating tomorrows skiing.
Day 3
Today started with a nice snow shower. Two groups made it over to France today with two more hoping to get over tomorrow. The beginners made great progress and are now all skiing from the intermediate stop, with Joel, Taku and Nathan all getting moved up. Louis Wheeler has changed groups 6 times today.
Divvy of the day nominations today were; Ben Calvert for belly flopping on a random girl who was sat on the slope minding her own business (he thought it was Zak!), Tom Gater got several nominations, sitting on the arm of the chairlift and falling face first, falling off the t-bar losing his skis and poles but holding on and sliding face first up the slope, falling on the slope and sliding head first down, tossing a coin to impress Rhiann and hitting himself square on the forehead with the coin, Mr. Breen for falling in the off piste after giving out to Ben for his ‘poor skiing’, Louis Wheeler for taking out a group of girls on the slopes! Winner was Ben Calvert!
Torch light night ski was the evening activity. All pupils enjoyed themselves except Jak Watts who had to walk down as Mr. MacAuley tied his boots too tight. Joel Borokini had a little tumble on the way down. We finished off with a football tournament where the year 10s dominated, going unbeaten and winning 5 games.
Tomorrow we are expecting 16 inches of snow to fall so shovels at the ready!!
Day 4
Snow, snow and more snow!! Today was a blizzard from the time we got up until bedtime. 52 cm fell today which meant it was difficult skiing conditions for the pupils. All pupils stayed on the local slope today as the two main chairlifts were closed due to high winds.
The kids were taken off the slopes at half 2 as the snow was really heavy and everyone was soaked through!
Divvy of the day nominations were Jak Watts got several, sliding backwards off the button lift and nearly wiping out Mr. Breen, picking up his drink at lunch and spilling it all on his lap, Chris Roach for the most ridiculous shout of the week ‘how does that dog ski down the mountain’?, Mr. Breen for falling over whilst attempting a 360 degree turn, Mr. MacAulay for lifting a jump off the floor with his ski, Daniel McKenna for falling over on the slope in front of the boys. Mr. MacAulay is the divvy for tomorrow.
The baby of the trip Luke Abrams fell asleep at the table during dinner, but awoke as soon as got a waft of his burger and chips! Bingo was the evening activity today and we had some good winners, Ben Calvert was the first to shout BINGO unfortunately for him it was a false call and he had to do the walk of shame! Jak Watts for his hilarious comments throughout!
Everyone is looking forward to great skiing conditions tomorrow
