Congratulations to R. Rowbotham and F. Abdulkadir, Year 9, both of whom have had poems entered for the Liverpool ‘My Place’ Awards. The Award Ceremony took place on 18th November 2008 at the Liver Buildings. Well done Rebecca and Fardowsa.
Many thanks to Mrs. Gambardella for working with the students.
A cupful of River Mersey,
Two lambananas chopped, peeled and not too early.
A spoonful of Hope from the University,
Echoes from the Arena, make sure you're not too thirsty,
A dash of culture in Liverpool 08,
A feather from the Liver Bird that got you a date,
Games, fun and toys from Bold Street,
Bake the recipe of Liverpool,
And now eat the cake.
The bombed out church quiet and cold,
Everyone knows about the stories told.
How the bombs flew down on this beautiful place,
such a tragic case.
You can still see the children, scared and alone.
Now all that is left is rubble and bone.
The bombed out church quiet and cold,
Everyone knows about the stories told.
Stair and breath as shivers run down the spine,
It is such an historical place locked in time.
You can hear the cries and screams.
You can see nothing but the beams,
Which hold the sanctuary together.
I will remember this place forever.
