As part the school's ongoing commitment to ensuring its students are prepared for life after school several important dates on the school calendar are outlined below.
Year 10 Year 10 Employability Interviews took place in the Learning Resource Centre on 20th,21st and 22nd February 2007. Congratulations to all Year 10 pupils who took part in the employability interviews. Over 120 pupils and 30 employers took part. Pupils were able to gain a valuable insight into the interview process. The programme was a resounding success due to the hard work and dedication of the pupils and the significant efforts of Year 10 Group tutors who helped to prepare the pupils.
Employers and pupils made extremely positive comments on the evaluation forms: LJMU: "Great Students! Very pleasant students giving a good name to the school." Liverpool Compact: "Students very well prepared and made good use of the online application form" Year 10 pupil: " I feel I can actually achieve because before this I felt I would never get a job and I had lots of self doubt but Jon has opened my eyes" Year 10 pupil: " It made me more comfortable talking about life, jobs and experience" Year 10 pupil: " I gained many tips and have the knowledge on how a real job interview will go"
Liverpool Hope University Thursday 15th March 2007
100 pupils from Year 11 and 12 attended a Liverpool Compact Careers Day at LJMU. A wide range of employers. educational establishments and training providers were represented. The aim of the event was to provide pupils with advice and guidance on Post 16 opportunities in Liverpool. Guided tours, presentations and interactive displays provided students with a wealth of information to help them make informed decisions about their future.
Year 10 Enterprise Days Thursday 27th April2007 /Tuesday 12th June2007 Year 10 students will be given the opportunity to put their entrepreneurial skills to the test in a range of exciting business challenges. The pupils will work in competing teams to develop teamwork, leadership and communication skills.
Thursday 7th June 2007 or Friday 8th June 2007 Liverpool University will be hosting the 2nd Enterprise Olympics at the Carnatic Halls in Mosley Hill. In the 2006 event the Year 10 Childwall team came 3rd in Liverpool. Let's hope this years team has as much success.
In the summer term Years 7,8 and 9 pupils will have the chance to present bids to the Childwall Dragons for funds to develop an idea to improve the school environment or facilities. More information to follow!
Overall the employers were impressed with the calibre of students and the manner in which they conducted themselves during the interviews.
