Drama Highlights 2008-2009

October 2008

Tayo Aluko performed ‘Call Mr. Robeson’ for two audiences in the Drama Studio.
Sixth form Film Studies students attend a screening of ‘The Orphanage’.
Year 11, 12 and 13 Drama Students attend a performance of ‘Antigone’.

November 2008

Sixth form students attend a performance of ‘King Lear’ at the Everyman Theatre – starring Peter Postlethwaite.

December 2008

Sixth form students attend a screening of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ – a month before this Oscar-winner goes on general release.

January 2009

Sixth form students attend a screening of ‘Control’ at FACT followed by a lecture on Representation.

February 2009

Staff from the Royal Court Theatre deliver a drama workshop to year 10 students.

March 2009

Students attend two performances at the Unity Theatre, ‘In A Thousand Pieces’ and ‘Panic’. An actor from the first one, performed by The Paper Birds Theatre Company, delivers a workshop to drama students in school.

April 2009

Year 11 Drama students perform for their practical GCSE examination.

May 2009

Year 12 and 13 Theatre Studies students perform for their practical A level examination.

Next Year

Next year, we already have tickets booked for a performance at the Royal Court – we can’t say what it is yet (not before the official press release) but one of our students will be appearing in the cast. We are also hopeful that some of our students will be taking part in performances at the Everyman Theatre. More details to follow. Have a safe and enjoyable summer break.
