On Friday 10th July, pupils from Childwall Sports College in conjunction with the Ethnic Minority and Traveller Achievement Service (EMTAS) welcomed a group of young people from Islington in North London. The young people were representing the Ambassador Project which is a programme aimed at pupils of Afro- Caribbean heritage. This innovative project enables young people to explore their heritage and celebrate their achievements. Local artists, Patrick Graham, Vinny Clegg and Raw Skills performed for the pupils and led discussions based on shared experiences and aspirations.
Gill Rowlands, Assistant Manager EMTAS believed that “the visit has provided a unique opportunity for pupils from different parts of the country to meet and explore both heritage and what it is like to be a young person in the UK today. Hopefully, this will be the beginning of an ongoing partnership”.
“We were delighted to be able to host our visitors from Islington. The Year 10 students from London and our own Year 10 students enjoyed each other’s company and have made friendships which I am sure will endure for a long period of time. We are committed to raising the aspirations and achievements of all our young people from all backgrounds".
