Extended Services - An Introduction

Childwall Sports College has enjoyed a range of extended activities for many years. Indeed the November 2005 Ofsted Inspection cited that the school is heavily involved in extended activities as a Sports College with an extensive Adult Education provision and a range of community projects.

To this end the school has been meeting regularly with Officers of the Local Authority/Children’s Services in addition to representatives from all neighbouring Primary, Secondary and Special Schools. Other partners involved are: Learning Network; Primary Care Trust; Youth Sport Trust; Libraries Service.

The Childwall Extended Services Group meets on a regular basis. It met on 6th October 2006 with a view to working with the Learning Network, of which Childwall is a significant partner, to enhance further the opportunities for young people within our area.

The next steps will provide us with an opportunity to audit existing provision and to ensure that, as always with school activities of this nature, all such plans are designed to maximise the potential and raise achievement within all youngsters at Childwall.

D.W. Phillips, Headteacher.
