Gifted and Talented National Pilot

Childwall Sport College has been selected to participate in a Gifted and Talented Government pilot as from June 2009. This is a phenomenal achievement for us as only two Secondary schools within Liverpool have been allowed to take part (Childwall Sports College and Notre Dame College). Obviously, the word is out that our school is making significant progress in terms of attainment and that we are currently making great advancements in providing for our G&T pupils.

The programme is designed to be fully aligned with National Challenge and is scheduled to run for two and a half years. Engagement in the programme should further build capacity for the future, and have a tangible and rapid impact on quality learning, ethos and standards.

Part of the focus will be directed specifically upon the current Year 9 cohort where identified pupils will be expected to make at least two levels of progress in Key Stage 4 and, wherever possible, to achieve 3+A*/A grades at GCSE.

Training commences in June 2009 and I will keep you updated as to the progress made and the direction we intend to take. If you have any questions/queries relating to this government pilot, please do not hesitate to approach a member of the Leadership Team.
