AQA GCSE Resistant Materials
Pupils experience working with a variety of materials including: wood, metal and plastic. Structures and mechanisms are also included.

Assessment The Specification consists of two units and is broken down as follows:
Coursework 60 % of total marks
Design and produce a design portfolio containing identification of a need, research and development of the pupils, ideas and much more.
Make a model and then a full size item in wood, plastics or metal.
Pupils will learn about lots of materials including new “smart” materials. Many processes will introduced and pupils will build skills in using hand tool, power tools and computer operated.
Materials and processes are tested in examination set by AQA.
It lays an appropriate foundation for further study of Product Design and Engineering or related subjects at GCE/VCE AS and ‘A’ levels.
